Organization Statement
Welcome to The White Lotus Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization nestled in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon. Our mission is both simple and profound: to support and empower individuals within the AANHPI community. More than just a foundation, we are a catalyst for dreams and aspirations. Our vision is to cultivate an environment where every member can flourish, discover their potential, and feel a profound sense of belonging. Rooted in compassion, community, and culture, we strive to create a nurturing space that fosters connection, preserves heritage, and embraces the diversity of our community.
Core Values
Community - At the heart of our work lies community. We believe in the transformative power of unity and support, and we're dedicated to fostering strong bonds within the Asian communities we serve. Our commitment to community means creating inclusive spaces where individuals can come together, connect, and thrive as one, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
Culture - We cherish the importance of cultural heritage in shaping identity. Our passion lies in celebrating and preserving the rich traditions, arts, and stories of the AANHPI community. By honoring our culture, we not only bridge generations but also share the beauty of our traditions with the world.
Compassion - Central to our mission is compassion—a force that drives our commitment to supporting and uplifting every member of our community. Through empathy, kindness, and understanding, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, demonstrating genuine care for their well-being and growth.
Commitment to the Community
With culture as our compass, we are deeply committed to actively engaging and uplifting our community. Through a myriad of initiatives including community programs, workshops, youth leadership development, and more, we endeavor to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The White Lotus Foundation is dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander) community and beyond. Recognizing the unique challenges, experiences, and contributions of individuals within our community, we are devoted to creating a supportive and empowering space where all members can thrive.
Diversity - We celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, languages, traditions, and perspectives within the AANHPI community. Embracing this diversity, we acknowledge and address systemic barriers and injustices, working towards a more inclusive society.
Equity - Guided by principles of equity, we strive for fair and equitable access to resources, opportunities, and representation for all members of our community. We amplify the voices of those historically marginalized or underrepresented, advocating for their rights and needs.
Inclusion - At the core of our work is inclusion. We aim to create a welcoming environment where individuals of all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute fully. Through dialogue, collaboration, and understanding, we foster solidarity among diverse groups and communities.
Through our programs, initiatives, and advocacy efforts, we aim to address the unique needs and challenges faced by our community, striving for greater equity, justice, and solidarity. Committed to learning, growing, and evolving, we endeavor to better serve the diverse needs and aspirations of our community, creating positive change in the world. Together, we build a more inclusive, equitable, and vibrant community where all individuals can thrive and flourish.
Acknowledging Indigenous Land
We humbly acknowledge that the land on which we operate belongs to the indigenous peoples who have lived here since time immemorial. We honor and respect their deep connection to the land, their cultural traditions, and their ongoing contributions to our society. In our partnerships and initiatives, we strive to promote the preservation and revitalization of indigenous knowledge and practices.
Through collaboration and awareness-raising efforts, we aim to preserve culture and contribute to the betterment of our society. Together, let us create a world where everyone can thrive, embodying the principles of love, harmony, and interconnectedness.
